2024-10-26

On October 26, 2024, five student representatives participated in the "Greater Bay Area Innovative and Technological Career Opportunities @ Yau Tsin Mong Youth Career Planning Seminar," led by teachers Mr. WU Luning from the Design and Technology Department and Mr. Wong Ho Pan from the Maker Education Department . This event was jointly organized by the Yau Tsim Mong District Office and the Yau Tsim Mong Committee for the Promotion of "One Country, Two Systems." The seminar aimed to deepen youth understanding of innovative technology development in the Greater Bay Area, enhance their sense of belonging to the region, and broaden their career opportunities.

During the seminar, Dr. Ricky CHIU shared insights from his tech career, providing valuable future planning guidance for the students. Following this, Dr. Mark Mak Hin-Yu, introduced the latest developments in 5G and robotics, sparking students’ interest in future technologies. Additionally, Professor WU Bo from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Research Centre for Deep Space Explorations was present to showcase the latest advancements in lunar exploration and encouraged students to actively engage in technological studies.

After the seminar, the students continued their visit to the School of Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Coinciding with the school's 60th anniversary, a series of celebratory events are set to begin, including the highlight project, the "One to Ten Outstanding Alumni Exhibition". As a significant hub for design education and research in Hong Kong, the School of Design has consistently provided high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate design programs, nurturing countless creative talents who have achieved excellence in various industries. During this visit, students not only had close encounters with the latest design products from current students but also gained insights into the school’s 60-year history and future development plans.

This visit not only broadened the horizons of Bethel High School students but also deepened their understanding and passion for the fields of design and technology. They experienced the innovative spirit and academic atmosphere of the PolyU School of Design. We look forward to seeing Bethel High School students continue to shine in future activities and actively participate in innovative practices in design and technology.
