Science Activity: "Forensic Science Workshop"

2026-06-30

To enhance students' interest in scientific inquiry and cultivate their logical thinking and problem-solving skills, the Science Department organized a "Forensic Science Workshop" for Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 students as a post-exam activity of this academic year. Centered around Forensic Science, this activity adopted an experiential learning approach, allowing students to role-play as "scientific detectives" and step into simulated crime scenes to conduct case investigations.

During the workshop, students were required to flexibly apply interdisciplinary scientific knowledge and observation skills to conduct meticulous evidence gathering through a series of forensic techniques. The activity covered five core investigative tasks: extracting and matching fingerprints left at the scene, analyzing skull structural features to deduce basic biological profiles, measuring and comparing shoeprints to track movements, conducting handwriting analysis, and using logical reasoning to decipher hidden Morse codes.

Through this workshop, junior secondary students were not only able to transform abstract scientific theories into practical investigative tools, but also effectively hone their keen observation skills, rigorous scientific inquiry spirit, and teamwork abilities during the process of collecting evidence and building inferences. This successfully achieved the pedagogical goal of connecting scientific knowledge with real-life applications and integrating learning with engaging practical experiences.
